Yep, the story is that John Howard is being lined up to head the International Cricket Council. The Australian says: Rumours have emerged that the former prime minister has been nominated by the governing cricket bodies in Australia and New Zealand to take the leadership of the International Cricket Council when the job becomes vacant in 2012. The SMH (Peter Roebuck) says (in a very restrained piece): Cricket Australia's decision to nominate John Howard as its candidate for the top job at the International Cricket Council is as pitiful as it is disrespectful. Howard's knowledge of cricket is more characterised by enthusiasm than depth or imagination. Plain and simple, he is not qualified for the job. Come now, Peter, tell us what you really think. I dunno, I reckon it could be a good move. The guy certainly loves his cricket, and isn't passion a good asset? And anytime is a good time to post this youtube clip again:

One has to feel sorry for the poor old fella in his retirement, it seems that people are bending over backwards to find him something useful to do.
Howard is about as qualified to be in charge of cricket as I am to be in charge of Gymnastics Australia. 1

I know sod-all about cricket and care even less about it, but I wouldn't give the Rodent a job on the graveyard shift of the local fuel station, let alone a job he's probably slavering at the jaws to have.

Same here Jane..cricket is the game that the boys play for sport while the girls play rounders or netball.

He'd probably go in there and cut all the players' wages and look for easier ways to sack them without notice.

He's already been told to keep his hands off rugby league ...
Keep Howard's hands off rugby league http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/society-and-culture/keep-howards-hands-off-rugby-league-20091008-go8u.html 5

Maybe bowls (with due respect to bowls players) as he seems to be better at bowling underarm than overarm.

How about a male model for sportswear aka trakkies.
What about taking over from Ian Turpie and selling funeral plans on Sky Channel. 9

A stint on Celebrity Chefs. A recipe on how to make scones for a tea party on the lawn while leaving out the nasty ingredient of Labor Party wives.

Personally, although the rodent is definitely an abomination upon humanity, I wouldn't mind if he did get to head the ICC.
Perhaps then cricket would be relegated to the level of obscurity and condemnation it deserves ![]() 13

Apologies if this is a repost - from my end, my last post seems to have vanished into a haze of 0's and 1's when I pressed "submit".
Personally, while I regard the rodent (and his ilk) as an abomination upon humanity, I would be happy to see him chair the ICC. Cricket would then hopefully attain its deserved (in)significance and (in)attention along with the former Member for Binalong. ![]() 14

Apologies joni @12..a bit slowwww. Any voluteers? Let me see..Let's count to 12,150,890,006 and then let's go looking for him.
Pterosaur, I'm glad that it's cricket and not artistic gymnastics. The last thing that the young ladies need is a rodent running around the gymnasium. 15
