The start of the week brings us our start of the week open thread where we can chat about whatever takes our fancy.

I have an idea for a new event for Sydney - but I do not know how to get it started. I live in Pyrmont and often walk over Pyrmont Bridge. I was thinking that we should have a footrace (for professionals?) across the bridge. My thought is that sponsorship could raise the prizemoney, with the backdrop of the city skyline and Darling Habour could get some decent publicity for Sydney.

I see grandstands at either end, with people cheering along the sides of the bridge. The length is about 370m - so we could have it as a 200 or 300 metre race.

Now - how do I get the Blogocrats 300 off the ground?
