Let us finish off the working week with an open thread where you can discuss what you like. Bring up stories that we have missed, post youtube clips that you want to share - but let's try to make it a happy thread.

I will start off with what happened yesterday here at the office. I was waiting near the lifts when a mother, father and a young boy joined me. The boy says:

"I reckon this lift will come first" - pointing to a lift.

The mother picked one, I picked one and the father was left with the last one.

The mother asks the boy what we get if we pick the right one. The boy responds immediately:

"Your dignity".

And the kid was nine! Going on sixty I reckon.

Not big on Charlton Heston's politics...but I thought this clip from the Omega Man summed up my feelings on the media & Coalition obsession w/ Rudd bashing.

I reckon Ruddy will dig in and show he has oomph again, just like in those KEVIN 07 days.

Yea, I know Charlton gets done in the end of the movie. But he helps restore humanity.

Now...what music can we find that expresses our feelings about Tony Abbott's budget reply?...

I have been a little distracted this week with work and some other issues, and so have not really been paying close attention to the budget and the budget reply. Trying to keep fit and healthy takes up a lot of time that would normally be spent lazing on the couch. We have dedicated threads for all of the budget discussions but I am sure that there are many other stories out there that you might want to raise - so here is a thread just for those stories.

And did I mention that I am going to be in the audience for QandA on Monday night? The main pollies are Joe "I'll huff and I'll Puff" Hockey and Lindsay "Laidback" Tanner. Will have a full report on Tuesday.

To kick off things, I see that the Pope has come out all indignant that same-sex marriage legislation is going to be passed into law in Portugal (where the Pope is currently visiting), saying that same-sex marriage and abortion were:

"insidious and dangerous threats to the common good"

Still interested to find out how allowing two people in love can be a threat to anyone.
