The NSW Lower House last night passed the legislation for the establishment of the NSW Relationship Register.

The  legislation means  same-sex and unmarried heterosexual couples will be registered with and recognised by NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages.

The vote was passed 62-9.

The legislation now goes to the Upper House where it is expected to be passed.

A step in the right direction.
