Climate scientist Dr Andrew Weaver has had enough and is not going to take it anymore, reports the SMH:

In a case with potentially huge consequences for online publishers, lawyers acting for Andrew Weaver, a climate modeller at the University of Victoria, Canada, have demanded the National Post remove the articles not only from its own websites, but also from the numerous blogs and sites where they were reposted.

I first picked this story up at Tim Lambert's Deltoid blog, where he reproduced the press release from Weaver's lawyer, which in part says:

University of Victoria Professor Andrew Weaver, the Canada Research Chair in Climate Modelling and Analysis, launched a lawsuit today in BC Supreme Court against three writers at the National Post (and the newspaper as a whole), over a series of unjustified libels based on grossly irresponsible falsehoods that have gone viral on the Internet.

It is good to see the scientists finally stand up for their name with the untruths that have been spread by those who deny AGW. I just hope that more decide to take action like this.
