"I blame the Fruchocs."

It ain't easy avoiding our loves, desires Migs. It's gonna happen.

I shoulda woken up years ago. Took a week in the hospital to see how dumb I was acting...addicted to grog and late nights...and back into the easy takeaway crap.

Seeing all those very sick and dying oldies & middle agers in there...due to smoking, cigs, bad food...and all admitted it...and were in so much pain and suffering...regretting they hadn't stopped earlier...well, sure woke this fella up.

One lovely lady who'd had a stroke, yet still smoked, said: "You've got to smarten up...that's one lovely lady you've got there in Stacey. She loves you too much to be left suffering if you make yourself sick again."

She was right.

"what else should a bear eat but nuts and berries"

LOL Min. I can think of some people a Bear might be tempted to chew on right now. ;D

At least I'm doing some things right. Tomatoes, garlic and parsley. Hubby's blood sugar was up, plus his grandfather was a diabetic, plus I find sneaked chokkie bar wrappers and empty tubs of icecream..all eaten after I've gone to bed.

Well done Nas'..what else should a bear eat but nuts and berries. - Min

Bacchus, I'm all for the Mediterranean Diet. Minus the fish cause I'm vego.

I luvs me pasta salad w/ low fat feta, olives etc.

And spag w/ just onion or leek, herbs and low fat cheese.

And lentil bolognese.

i'd kill for one Chianti or Valpolicella w/ it too.

Bellissimo

I spent many months in my Mum's tummy as she lived in Rome. Musta got the taste for it. I visited Rome in the 80s and had a ball. Felt like another HOME.

"Mr Li cited a Harvard Medical School study showing that men who ate cooked tomatoes several times weekly were 30 to 50 per cent less likely to have prostate cancer."

Cool, I eat heaps. Luv 'em on toast in the morn.

I reckon chocs & wine in moderation.

I drank heaps of wine & beer and got diabetes (now fully controlled since only drinking 3 beers on Saturdays)...and high blood pressure (down alot from where it was when drinking heaps). I've also cut out takeaway food (including pizzas boo hoo), ice cream, frozen chips (pizzas & chips all homemade now) and energy drinks and store bought juices.

Eating more nuts & berries & dried apricots. I do take diabetes pills...but no injections. I range from 4-7 (normal is 4 - 8) each day on the blood glucose monitor for 8 weeks now.

I have a couple of blocks of dark choc w/ almonds...or one ginger choc a day. Sometimes I leave it out.

Min, I'm picking up the replacement packet (being hand delivered) on Monday morning. They will be tucked away in Gloria's hiding spot before her plane arrives.

I think she's going to be mad at me because of my diabetes. But . . . she'll never ever find out.8) - Miglo

Bacchus, I've already emailed the story to my wife, but I doubt that it will save me from a savage mauling when she learns upon her return to Canberra that I found where she hid her packet of Fruchocs.

At 2am this morning I went searching for them.

"But chocolates are good for me" I'll plead while on death row. - Miglo

How about a bit of good news?
Red wine and dark chocolate are potent cancer killers
CABERNET and chocolate are potent medicine for killing cancer, according to research presented in the US.

Red grapes and dark chocolate join blueberries, garlic, soy, and teas as ingredients that starve cancer while feeding bodies, Angiogenesis Foundation head William Li said at a prestigious TED (technology, entertainment design) Conference in Long Beach, California.

"We are rating foods based on their cancer-fighting qualities," Mr Li said. "What we eat is really our chemotherapy three times a day."

The Massachusetts-based foundation is identifying foods containing chemicals that evidently choke-off blood supplies to tumors, starving them to death.

Mr Li cited a Harvard Medical School study showing that men who ate cooked tomatoes several times weekly were 30 to 50 per cent less likely to have prostate cancer.

"There is a medical revolution happening all around us," Mr Li said.

"If we're right, it could impact on consumer education, food service, public health, and even insurance agencies."

About a dozen drugs are already in use to deprive tumors of blood supplies in a treatment tactic called "anti-angiogenesis".

The foundation pitted some foods against approved drugs and found that soy, parsley, red grapes, berries and other comestibles were either as effective or more potent in battling cancer cells.

Eaten together, the foods were even more effective in fighting cancer.

"We discovered that Mother Nature laced a large number of foods and herbs with anti-angiogenesis features," Mr Li said.

"For many people around the world, dietary cancer treatment may be the only solution because not everyone can afford cancer drugs."

The foundation also discovered that anti-angiogenesis properties of foods melt away fat, which relies heavily on blood flow to sustain itself.
- Bacchus

"I can't believe the news bites showing Abbott dancing around like a demented jester whilst yelling at Rudd, then Rudd retorting calmly and intelligently, reported that as a victory for Abbott over Rudd."

Indeed Mobius, it's a MAD World.

The kooky invasion of Iraq and the dire, horrific consequences demonstrated such.

And Abbott was a part of that OZ war cabinet. Not surprised he cycles so fanatically. Partially to drive out the guilt I imagine...and not think about his MISERLY stint as Health Minister...and to deal w/ other inner-demons...and outer...including some of the dipsticks in his shadow cabinet.

The Member for Sturt obviously thinks he's a member of the House of Stewart.

"Did anyone catch Gillard's comment about mousepads? I just caught snippets about how they've been donated to charities for them to be cut up in craft classes. She's a very clever lady..ironic humor while getting her points across."

Indeed. Gillard has been at the top of her game this week...and barely a mention. Nil today on the ABC shows I watched.

Disgraceful bias.

And as I said elsewhere:

If we’re going to scrutinise every unfortunate incident related to roof insulation even tho it is private business/industry rolling it out but people getting rebates, then I suggest we look at every mishap in the private industries that gain from rebates by governments. That includes private hospitals, practices, childcare places, private schools etc. etc. etc.

Everytime there is a stuff up in a private hospital I think we should know about it. No more double standards media.

Apparently governments are fully responsible these days for every business cockup.

Tho, I do give the unions credit for checking into health & safety.

"It gets to be stranger and stranger. I see one thing in parliament but the media presents something completely different."

Tell me about it Min. No footage whatsoever of Nicola Roxon thumping the heck outa Abbott on his attrocious running of the Health Dept...or that brilliant speech later by Chris Bowen that took the Libs apart piece by piece.

As long as they create a faux even pegging perspective so the public is swayed to repeat such in polls then the media gets the attention they so desire...and screw it if they let the WOLF thru the door accidentally...or on purpose for profiteering purposes.
